Students investigate global societies from 1200 CE to the present, analyzing how trade, empires, colonization, revolutions, and globalization shaped the modern world. They evaluate primary and secondary sources, construct evidence-based arguments, and apply historical understanding to contemporary global issues. 

  • Analyze the trajectory of early networks of exchange into our modern, globalized world 
  • Study revolutions, imperialism, twentieth-century conflict, and decolonization as historical foundations of present-day political and social challenges 
  • Develop historical thinking skills through primary and secondary source analysis, corroboration across multiple sources, and the construction of evidence-based arguments with clear lines of reasoning 
  • Complete sustained historical research, including a formal research paper, that connects historical developments to contemporary world issues 
  • Expect a minimum of 3 hours of homework per week
