How do mealworms react when they’re fed sugar-coated oats – and why? Is that Oreo truly double
stuffed? Find answers to
both these questions in AP Biology where students explore topics that describe the incredible ways
God designed living systems. AP Biology is a college-level biology course containing eight units
defined by the College Board.
- Hands-on experience with living organisms and models of organisms and the environment they live
in - The homework load varies from one to four hours per week
- Emphasis on group work and collaboration, and a good knowledge of chemistry as AP Biology includes the study of the chemistry of living things
AP Chemistry | SCI 740Â
Prerequisite(s): Biology, Algebra 1 and usually Chemistry (see below)

AP Chemistry is typically taken after Chemistry but for motivated students who earned As in Algebra 1 or who are advanced in math AND who complete a summer prep program, AP Chemistry can be taken instead of Chemistry.
The AP Chemistry course outline defined by the college board and contains nine units of study including
- The structure and properties of Atoms, Compounds, and Substances and Mixtures
- Kinetics
- Thermochemistry
- Equilibrium
- Acids and bases
- Thermodynamics and Electrochemistry
AP Chemistry is for ambitious students who are willing to spend from one to four hours per week on homework, who are eager to collaborate with their peers, who exhibit self-control around dangerous chemicals, and who are excited to see how the tiniest things we know of are the building blocks of everything we know.
AP Physics 1 | SCI 720Â
Prerequisite(s): Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry, Chemistry

You’ll be shocked at how much you misunderstand about the physical world around you! You’ll never again throw a ball or jump into a pool or ride a bike without both griping about and praising what you learned in AP Physics. The course outline includes eight units defined by the College Board.
- Explore the way things move, what happens when you’re pushed or pulled, why walking on wet tile can be treacherous, and how playing pool is the same as bungee jumpingÂ
- Experience science. You’ll do labs and projects that bring new concepts to lifeÂ
- You will study these main topics: Motion and Forces, Gravity, Energy, Momentum, Harmonic Motion, and Rotational MotionÂ
- If you are curious about medicine, architecture, engineering, computer science, or the fundamentals of God’s physical creation then you should take AP Physics 1Â
- AP Physics is NOT math intensive. If you know the basics of right-triangles, linear graphing, and solving simple simultaneous equations, you have all the math skills you needÂ

You had phun in AP Physics 1, so let’s keep our momentum going! Last year your study of God’s creative genius focused on things you could see and touch. In AP Physics 2, you will go deeper into the realms of the invisible! The course outline includes seven units defined by the College Board.
- Dive deep into the study of fluids and breathe the mystery of gasesÂ
- Be shocked at electricity and feel strangely attracted to magnetism. You will see the light that is visible and experience invisible light from radar waves to gamma radiation
- Be blown away by nuclear and atomic physics. Photons, positive electrons, pulling neutrons and electrons out of protons (yep!)
- Like AP Physics 1, AP 2 emphasizes concepts, not math.
- The homework load varies from one to four hours per week. You will develop college-level skills in physics, time management, collaboration strategies, and academic maturity. And you will have phun.
